       This is another of my best paintings. This scan is a tiny bit blurry but even if it were perfectly sharp and clear it still would not be easy on the eyes. This most people seem to recognize as being something like an atom. Though I have an early sketch linked below, which shows that this design was kicking around my brain for awhile before I actually thought it out, it was created again later while I was wasting time on the 4 color map problem. It is assumed that you can use only 4 colors to create any 2 dimensional map of any shaped areas and never have two of the same colored areas required to touch each other. Though computer programs have been written to test this on millions of possible shapes and never once came up with a design which would break this rule, I wasted a lot of time trying anyway, but came up with some good designs in the process. Basically you can have only 3 colors touch on a two dimensional surface and have all stay in contact directly with each other (a 4 corned meeting at a point, each would only border 2 others, not 3 or 4), and this 3 colored area convergence is represented inside the blue triangle in the center of the red triangles. You can have a fourth color wrap around the other 3 to touch all three but when you do, you end up cutting off one in the middle which can now be a different color when trying to go beyond 4 colors. Using a 3 dimensional wrapping as around a globe you could get a pattern like this which could not be done with only 4 colors but as I understood the problem, it was supposed to be flat. By taking the center 3 colors touching area outward adding on additional 3 colored areas in each direction from the center, and then linking them back again to each other I could force large areas to have to be extremely rigid in which other colors could be used and hoped I could link them back again in a way to make some pattern which would need a fifth color, yet everytime I completed a link, the center areas would revert back to the 4th color in the middle. If I started with Red, Blue, and Green for the center 3 (inside the center blue triangle) I could force all others along the chain to have to be only one color but could never link them up in a way stop the 4th color from simply filling in the middle areas.
        Anyway after creating 3 circular patterns of what is now in the painting the purple hexagons, I noticed it made a very cool design. Since it seemed kind of bland for just this pattern to be a painting,  I just connected the dots so to speak with the blue and red lines, all thought out before it was started as a painting. I vaguely remember a element of carbon, carbon12 or 16 or something which had a similar crystalline structure, but am not sure and don't really remember. Have you seen this molecule?, if so call 555-.... Seriously I am curious what carbon molecule it could be but I am too lazy to look it up but if someone tells me where to look I would appreciate it. The background circles are actually based on an atom, or every atom to be precise. The distance between the circles is the same as the distance between the orbits of electrons. It sets up a very nice universally intuitive stroboscopic effect. Though the sketch below was most likely done before this painting was conceived it still has most of the same elements.
