This is unfinished from many years
ago but will one day be one of the better ones. This is also a bad photograph
/ bad scan, since the color white is coming up almost a medium gray. You
can assume the real picture is much brighter and more detailed. I am attaching
below of a link which shows what the center is supposed to look like when
finished. I did the red of the center triangle perfectly, which was very
difficult to do since it had to have perfectly even shading along a sharp
meeting point where each two sides meet along lines from the center of
the triangles to the points. Difficult as it was to do perfectly, I was
unhappy with the contrasting of the light red of the center to the strong
red of the outside. I felt it needed to have a greater brightening toward
the center so I, with grave disappointment, erased it all (acrylics) and
never got around to finishing it, not wanting to repeat the frustration
of having done something difficult to do and then having to simply erase
it. I have seen the full design on a computer model I made shown below,
so I know it would have, or will if done, look as good as I thought it
would.
This inner design I seem to remember from a high school Social Studies class as a being an ancient Egyptian symbol but what it means or if it is really egyptian, I have no idea. With the background, the effect I was going for was what they used to have at a county fair I went to as a child. They would spin a very small hard cardboard canvas around at high speeds and you would throw or drop, more like splatter, paint onto it and it would create a neat colorful of tye-dyed type design. |
